Aloha,

Well July has been a busy month for weddings in Maui, Hawaii. I was a bit concerned about the number of bookings  the first of June but, all of a sudden my schedule filled up. Wow… It’s been fantastic!  I have been blessed with the best clients in the world. I’ve met some wonderful people so far this month and many of them I will remain in contact with for years to come.

I also have had been working with Maui Surfer Girls owner, Dustin Tester again this year capturing her summer camps for girls. This is my fifth year shooting for Maui Surfer Girls and I have gotten o know many of the young ladies who are loyal surfer girls who have repeatedly attended MSG camp over the years. MSG is celebrating it’s tenth year anniversary this year and I am very proud to be able to be a part of the team at Maui Surfer Girls as the staff photographer. If your planning to visit Maui this summer and are looking to learn how to surf, I highly recommend calling Dustin- owner of Maui Surfer Girls.

If your planning to visit Maui this summer and would like family, engagement , Romantic, vacation documentary or Surf photography services while in Hawaii please give me a call. I would love to meet you and customize a photography session for you.

Professional surfer Keala Kennelly showed up for the big swell last week  to tow-in at Maui’s famous surf spot called Peahi which is also known as “Jaws”.  Keala has been featured on many movies playing herself in movies such as Blue Crush and Stepping into Liquid. Keala one of three woman surfing Jaws that day represented woman who surf big waves.

Maui Tow-in Surfing at Jaws

I received a late evening call January 16, 2010  saying that the famous surf spot, Peahi known as ”JAWS”  would be breaking in the morning. “Jaws” has been significant in recent years with the development and popularization of tow in surfing.  While many other big wave surf breaks around the world have seen an increase in tow surfing, “Jaws” has been at the forefront of the tow surfing revolution. Several documentary surf films, such as Stacey Peralta’s Riding Giants and Dana Brown’s Step into Liquid have exposed the quality of the wave to the world and immense crowding has plagued the break on the biggest days of surf. This has led to several dangerous and potentially life threatening incidents. So far nobody has drowned at “Jaws”, however several prominent surfers have been lobbying to regulate or even limit tow surfing at the break for safety reasons.

Below are a few images from the other day taken by: Nicole Sanchez of Behind The Lens Maui who is always available to shoot you surfing these monsters and or any other type of extreme sport while your on Maui.
