Engagement Photos in Maui

Are you thinking of popping the question and or already have and are now planning to get married this year?  Have you considered having engagement photos taken?

Many clients ask me why they should consider doing engagement photos  and I’d like to point out a few reasons why you should consider it.  The first reason is an engagement shoot will help in establishing a relationship with your photographer and will help make a difference in the outcome of your wedding images.

During the engagement session,  I generally like to spend about an hour or two with my couples watching them, listening to them, having fun with them, getting to know them, and photographing them all at the same time.
I take note of how they interact with each other, their individual personalities, and how the compliment one another. During the session, I make mental notes as well as get ideas of images to capture on the wedding day that are unique to that couple.

Your engagement session should take place at a location that fits you both and or can be a place that has some meaning to the two of you. This could be a place you got engaged or a first date, it could be at a place you both like to spend time, or something you like to do together such as a shared interest.  Some favorite places on Maui are: The Beach, The Park, Iao Valley or even hiking through the Bamboo Forest in Hana.

The advantage of this is that you can let your photographer know ahead of time if there are shots or angles you do not care for, also you can let your photographer know the things that you do like. The more communication you can have with the photographer the better.

Once you have your engagement images there are many things you can do with them. They can be given, as gifts to the family, parents especially always appreciate photographs of their children. You can make thank- you cards, for your wedding guest, choose your favorite image to enlarge and use for your guests to sign at your reception. You can create a small album or a coffee table box for yourselves. Most of my clients order some sort of wall collage or portrait to hang on the wall in their new home. I find my couples would rather have an engagement image on their wall instead of one in their wedding attire, however some do both.  There are numerous things your can do with your engagement photos and these memories will last a life time. If your popping the question, we can arrange for me to hide from a distance to capture his/ her expressions and then have them for a surprise gift afterwards. Believe me when ever I’ve planned this out with a someone it’s been well worth it and the extra thought you put into it sure goes a long way, A SURE WAY in scoring points.
