Wedding Ideas That Can Make Your Wedding Unique
Looking for wedding ideas that can make your wedding unique from the traditional ceremony? Since your wedding is a special once in a lifetime event, consider things thatare different that will bring your own special touches to it.
Here are just some uniqueideas to help get your creative juices flowing.
At the reception, instead of people ringing bells or clicking their glasses with utensils toget the new couple to kiss, have your guests stand up and share a touching memory of when you met your spouse or any other special memory. If they don’t have one or don’t remember, they could share a special memory that they shared with you themselves. Instead of just kissing, everyone will be reminded of how and why you two got marriedin the first place. In addition, you will have these special moments to reminisce about later in your marriage as a reminder of why you fell in love.
Here’s a wonderful and creative idea for guests signing in. Instead of having a traditional guest book to sign, have engagement pictures taken, or just a special picture of you and your spouse. Then enlarge it with a thick border around it and have all your guests signaround the border and leave little messages. This is something that you can frame anddisplay in your home. Reading the little messages is always fun and something that will remind you of that special day.
During the wedding when the bride walks down the aisle, instead of playing the traditional bridal waltz, pick a special song that you and your spouse hold dear to your hearts or maybe surprise everyone with a pop or rock song. Choreograph a dance routine with your bridesmaids and groomsmen and just have fun with it. How fun would that be to go back and watch the video and see all your guests reactions after expecting thetraditional music and instead you walk down to a more current or hip song.
A great idea for a unique reception would be to have a photo booth on sight, where people can take their pictures together. You could also have someone use an instant camera and when the wedding is over you can sign and date the pictures. Then mail them with the thank you cards, which is a great way to give back to your guests. After all most people never receive pictures from the wedding. This is a way of making them feel like they are getting a gift.
During the reception, you can bring out yours and your spouse’s inner child. Nothing brings that out like having a candy bar filled with all of the candies that you and yourhusband grew up with. You can also have Chinese takeout boxes made with your picture and wedding date printed out on it, as it’s an awesome favor that will be used and enjoyed. You could also have lotto tickets that only cost a dollar and include a cute little saying such as, “We were so lucky to have all our friends and families join us on our special day.” You may want to have fun and remind them if they win, you get half. No, not really. It’s a cute and budget friendly idea to bring a unique and special touch to your wedding.
Another idea is that instead of sending out the usual wedding announcements, create a unique movie of the story of how you met. This can be made with a slide show of pictures or maybe a spoof of a bunch of romantic comedies, but at the end of it, add your wedding date and mail (or e-mail) it to all your guests. If you want to go big, you could rent out an entire theater and have them play it for your guests and see their reactions to it.
For your wedding, if your very gutsy and looking for something really out there, why not do a themed wedding? If you are into The Wizard of Oz, Disney characters, super heroes, Hawaiian or a certain video game that both of you are obsessed with, you can dress uplike them and have all your guests join in. There are many other theme ideas out there, so not only will it be truly memorable, but it will speak to the fun side of you both. You could always opt for a more traditional ceremony and have your reception themed, but whatever you choose to do, follow your heart and have fun with it.
Beach Wedding And Things To Consider
A beach wedding is a great way to tie the knot. Whether you want it casual, romantic orpersonal, beach weddings can be a perfect fit for any couple. A beach wedding can be a one-day event just between the two of you, and a couple of close friends, or have a hugebeach party and make a weekend of it. Either one you choose, you will remember it for the rest or your life. Therefore, here are some things to keep in mind when throwing your perfect beach wedding.
To start, look into whether or not the beach of your choice requires a permit. Some beach locations do not require one, but some do and the last thing you want have happen inthe middle of the ceremony is to be escorted off the premises by security. Another thing to prepare yourself for is the weather as you never know with mother nature what canhappen. If you plan to have your reception somewhere off the beach, also plan to haveyour wedding there as a backup plan in the event the weather goes bad.
You might also want to plan your ideal beach wedding during slower times of the yearso you don’t have a bunch of party crashers or teenagers yelling “don’t do it!” You can’t always control who is going to be there at such a public location, but you can hiresercurity to ask people to keep their distance or ask a brave friend or two to help out to keep unwanted guests away from your wedding.
For you outdoor beach wedding there are lots of things that can affect your wedding pictures, videos and sound. So it would be a good idea to have your wedding professionals visit your wedding site ahead of time, so that they can get a feel for thelocation. They can also prepare in advance for the best angles, position or maybe certain landmarks, such as a set of beautiful rocks with waves crashing against them, whichwould make for beautiful and unique wedding photos.
In addition, consider the sound that you want your guests to be able to hear as beachceremonies can be quite noisy from the winds, waves and other guests.
When planning your beach wedding, one thing that gets overlooked is to apply sunscreenon yourself, after all no one wants to spend their honeymoon sunburned. You may alsowarn your guests to do the same. Having a supply of lotion and cheap sunglasses is a nicetouch for guests.
In addition, having a fan there is a good idea especially if it is a hot day. An idea wouldbe to print out the order of the ceremony on the fans and have them waiting on the guest’sseats. Another idea would be to tie a ribbon on all of the above and make a little beachbasket with other essentials such as an umbrella to block the sun and maybe some bug
spray can all be put together for a beach wedding survival kit as a cute way to keep yourguests comfortable.
Always have a lot of water on hand as well for you and your guests as it is easy to getdehydrated in the sun and especially on such a stressful day. Avoid the bride or groomfainting is probably a good idea. Another thing to consider is the wind factor, as we allknow it is not fun having sand blown in your face. Find out how windy it gets at yourvenue as you may need to make some adjustments for your actual wedding day.
Depending on how the wind blows, you may want to consider having a tent on hand. Not only will this help control some wind, but also from the rays of the sun. In addition, have plenty of methods of tying, or weighing, down many of your items. The last thingyou want happen during your ceremony is to have the wind blow away your tent or othergoods.
There are also many decorating ideas when it comes to the beach. Take in considerationdoing a themed wedding, such as:
- Nautical: very simple and sleek.
- Hawaiian: very romantic.
- Beach Party: Informal, cheap and pretty stress free.
All are great ideas, but the beach alone is a beautiful decoration. So whether you wanta beach party atmosphere with a bonfire reception, or a fantasy beach wedding withfireworks and tons of flowers, either way it’s your wedding, so make it fit for you .
Wedding Traditions During A Wedding Ceremony
Wedding traditions during a wedding ceremony have always been a wonder as to how or whenthese little things we take for granted were started. There are many traditions and customs that have been going on for hundreds of years, but how did they evolve into the customs that we currently know now. Traditions such as everything to do with the aisle (what side to stand on orthe runner), bridesmaids and groomsmen or even the bouquet and the flowers.
Groom/Bride Sides of the Aisle
The reason that the bride and groom’s families sit separately, as well as on opposite sides, beganback when the bride’s father would offer his daughter to a tribe in which they were havingproblems with as a sign of a peace offering. The opposite sides were established so that therewould be no bloodshed between the two tribes and bring the two groups together, thus ensuringthat there would be no war between the tribes.
The Bride on the Left
Usually the bride stands on the left side of the aisle, while the groom stands on the right. Turnsout that there was a good reason for it back in the old days. Apparently people would be knownto try and rescue the bride if she had been taken or if ex-suitors still fancied the bride. The groomwould have to have his right hand free to be able to grab his sword and fight them off. After allhis left hand was holding his bride-to-be’s hand.
Bridesmaids and Groomsmen
The purpose for having bridesmaids was to confuse the evil spirits, as they thought the spiritswere lying in wait for the actual bride. Therefore, they thought that if they had other nicelydressed women around the bride, the spirits would not know which one was the actual bride. The early days of marriage were quite brutal as they would capture the bride and it was the bestwarrior’s job to fight the other men off for the groom and to keep her family from finding them.Over time the best warrior turned into the best man.
Bouquet and Flowers
The wedding bouquet was originally made of a combination of strong fresh herbs, like thymeand garlic, to ward off the evil spirits. It also helped with the smell of the attendants, as theyapparently did not bathe much back then. The flowers at a wedding are meant to symbolize the beginning of a new life, fertility and never ending love.
The White Aisle Runner and The Kiss
The runner was white as a reminder of God’s holiness and by walking on it you were consideredto be walking on holy ground. By having the runner in the wedding, meant that God would beactively involved in the wedding. In the Roman times, a kiss was considered as a way to sealall contracts and therefore the reason as to why a wedding always ends with “you may now kissyour bride.” After all, a marriage is the biggest and most important contract that you will ever have between your spouse and with God.
The Unity Candle
The lighting of the unity candle is a tradition that began with the Roman Catholic and Protestantchurches. As you take the two individual candles, which represents you and your spouse-to-be,and bring the two flames together to light the one and therefore having only one flame. Lighting the unity candle means you are proclaiming to everyone that you have united as one. Once thetwo of you blow out your single candles, you are considered as blowing away your former singlelife and forming a new life together as husband and wife.
The Jumping of the Broom and Stomping of the Glass
Jumping the broom is a ceremony that started back in the 1600′s from Africa. When the slaveswhere brought over they were not allowed to marry, therefore they would perform their ownwedding traditions and rituals from their tribe and would jump over sticks to represent fertilityand good fortune to the bride and groom. In today’s ceremonies, it has come to represent thesweeping away of the single life and jumping into a new and fun adventure as husband and wife. The Jewish tradition of stomping on a piece of glass in a napkin (for safety reasons) is believed to represent the destruction of the Holy Temple of Jerusalem and could also symbolize that along with great joy comes great sorrows.
