Getting Married in June, Maui Wedding Photography

Maui’s Weddings season, is underway and off to a great start. We’ve been very busy with both morning and sunset weddings the past two weeks and the rest of the month is booked solid.

We do however have a few slots available for your last minute weddings as we’ve currently added a couple very talented photographers to our team. If your a late planner for a June wedding in Maui, it’s not too late to book your Maui wedding photographer.

“Marry when June roses grow, over land and sea you’ll go.” That line comes from a popular poem about wedding months and is indicative of the popularity of a June bride and her wedding. The month of June is by far the most popular month in which to wed, followed by August and then July. In fact, the month of June is so popular, we have all heard the term June Bride, but have you ever heard of the August Bride?

Maui Wedding- Love is like Heaven

Maui Wedding Photography

Prior to the church declaring marriages as sacraments, brides and grooms often would wed on tops of hills as it was thought the higher in the sky they were, the closer to God and Heaven they would be. This photo reminds me of love as close as it can be to heaven. What a great couple, so in love.

Wedding Traditions- Why is it that the groom shouldn’t see the bride before the wedding?

As a Maui Wedding photographer, it’s my job to capture the bride and groom separately before the wedding. The groom not seeing the bride before the wedding stems from a couple different theories. One is that many years ago marriages were arraigned and therefore the fear from the bride’s family was that the groom would see their daughter and find her unattractive, thus running away. The other thought to this tradition was that if the groom peeked at the bride in her dress before the wedding, it symbolized him peeking into his future, which would bring bad luck to the couple.
