Why a Wedding Cake?

Maui Wedding Photographer-  Nicole Sanchez owner of Behind The Lens Maui captured these “Wedding cake Photos”. The wedding cake pictures were taken at a local Maui wedding this September.

Why a Wedding Cake?

Beginning in early Roman times, the cake has been a special part of the wedding celebration. A thin loaf was broken over the bride’s head at the close of the ceremony to symbolize fertility.  The wheat from which it was made, symbolized fertility and the guests eagerly picked up the crumbs as good luck charms.  During the Middle Ages, it became traditional for the couple to kiss over a small cluster of cakes.  Later, a clever baker decided to amass all these small cakes together, covering them with frosting.  Thus, the modern tiered cake was born.  Also visit our section on “Choosing your Wedding Cake.”

Wedding Favors For A Beach Wedding

Wedding Favors For A Beach Wedding

Are you looking for wedding favors for a beach wedding theme or for a wedding that is actually taking place on the beach, perhaps on the island of Maui? A wedding that includes the crashing waves in the background, along with the sand between your toes while you say your vows? If the answer is yes, then here are some great ideas for beach wedding favors.

The great thing about having beach weddings is that it can either be informal or elegant. This allows you to have a budget friendly wedding with either simple decor or have a lavish budget bursting with oodles of flowers. Either way works as a beach wedding fits perfect into either of those categories. When having a beach wedding you may want to consider having more practical wedding favors that your guests can use either during the ceremony or at the reception. Regardless of which style of beach wedding you go with, a practical gift would be a bottle of sunscreen decorated with both the bride and groom’s name and date of the wedding on it, that way your guests will be able to get some sun protection while enjoying your special day.

Informal Wedding Favors

When the thought of an informal beach wedding occurs, many people may imagine a man in shorts and a Hawaiian shirt, along with his bride in a flowing white dress that includes a flower wreath in her hair. Fun times are sure to follow, but what about the wedding favors? If you like the thought of a beach along with palm trees, you could have palm tree soaps made and place them in an organza bag. Other items may include palm tree pens and include them in a shot class with some sand, so that the palm tree pens will stand up.

One other idea is to have flip-flop wedding theme favors. You could get sweet little flip-flop card holders, earrings and  necklace flip-flop charms (they will seem to be more for the women than the men, but if the men don’t want them, they will probably have somebody in mind that they could give them to who would really enjoy it). You could also provide flip-flops, with your wedding date imprinted on them, at your wedding when the guests arrive so that they will not ruin their shoes in the sand. There is also the sea shell themed wedding favors in which you can do so much with, such as:

-Have a bucket with a candle in it that includes small sea shells either on the bucket or on the handle.

-Make a picture frame out of some sea shells and include a cute picture of the two of you in it.

-Get some cute sea shell soaps; put them in a cute little box with a clear lid and some cute ribbon tied around it.

All these ideas will make wonderful Maui Wedding photos and as your Maui wedding photographer, I have many more ideas and am happy to share them with you when you book your Photography service with me at Behind The Lens Maui.
