Hawaii eyes gay ceremonies after civil unions pass
Since years, Rev. Fay Hovey has been conducting the romantic events on the sand for all the gay partners who wish to pledge their relationship and love in Hawaii. The partners take pictures and memories in their heart but lack binding and legal recognition for their gay relationships.
Hovey of the Aloha Maui Gay Weddings reported that the gay people have fantasy like other couples. They too wish to come and have proper wedding and go on a honeymoon. Also, she added that when the couples come to Hawaii, they can easily relax and feel better than in other places.
The Hawaii lawmakers offered a final approval to the civil unions on Wednesday and even sent legislation to the Democratic Gov. Neil Abercrombie that plans to sign this into law within a span of 10 days. The civil unions will start 1 Jan 2012 thus making this state the 7th in country to grant the same rights of wedding to the same sex partners and that too without authorizing their marriage.
Hawaii which is popular as one of the premier locations of the country for destination weddings as well as honeymoons will allow the gay couples to have civil unions even if they do not belong to the states that have compatible laws. This will offer a boost to tourism dependent islands which are trying hard to recover from recession.
Mike McCartney, the president of Hawaii Tourism Authority said that they don’t discriminate. In fact they are popular for being tolerant and having mutual respect for all people. Further, their natural beauty, spirit and people create the best environment
