Reasons to Not have a Renewal Vow Ceremony

– You believe that your marriage may be failing and think that this might bring you closer together as a reminder as to why you got married in the first place. While at first glance this might not seem like a bad reason to renew your vows, but if you have children you may be giving them a false sense of hope. The last thing you want is to put all this time and energy in to something that is in essence, just a band-aid for what you might need such as counseling together.

– For one reason or another, you are just in the mood to throw a party. A vow renewal ceremony is to be taken seriously and not just another party.

– You want to outdo somebody else’s renewal service so that everyone will talk about you. This should be a special moment between you and your spouse and while it may be less formal, it still carries a lot of meaning behind it and often people can tell when you’re being pretentious.
