Japanese Wedding Tradition

Did you know that the Japanese bride-to-be is actually painted pure white from head to toe? The meaning of this process is that your visibly declaring her maiden status to the gods. The traditional bride wears a long white kimono with and special headpiece which is decorated with unusual ornaments. There is a white hood is attached to the kimono, which the bride wears like a veil and the groom wears a black kimono.

While the bride and groom exchange their wedding vows, their families face each other, instead of the couple getting married. In the Japanese marriage ceremony is the ritual that couple drinks drinks nine cups of sake. After the couples drinks the sake, they are then considered united in marriage. The whole Family as well as their guests also drink sake, to symbolize the bonding of the couple. This sounds like a fun way to get married to me and I’m wondering if the wedding photographer also gets to have a six shots of Sake.
