Wedding Ideas For Your Big Day
If you are planning on having a wedding in the near future you will more than likely want to add your own unique touch to your ceremony and maybe even throw in some wedding ideas of your own instead of having all of the old traditions from the past. However, you do not have to throw all of the old wedding traditions out the window just to be a modern bride. After all, some of these older wedding ideas have deep and meaningful roots that have been passed down from generation to generation.
If you are not familiar with certain wedding traditions stand for go ahead and do some research on the internet and you will find all sorts of amazing traditions that we still do today. You will also find some that we no longer do but still has some great meaning. Pick and choose which goes best with your personality and if you like the meaning, but not exactly how it is done, change it and add your own personnel touch to it and make it more modern. Mix and match the old with the new or just change up the old a little bit to fit you, your spouse and the different age ranges of your guests that way everyone will be satisfied. Also you could throw in some traditions from other countries that you really like and have a multi cultural wedding.
To Wear A White Gown Or Not To Wear A White Gown?
Originally there was no such thing as a specific wedding dress. When a woman was going to get married she would just buy a Sunday best dress so that way she could wear it again. They did not have the money in most cases to waste on a dress that could not be worn more than once. The white wedding dress was started by Queen Victoria, with the color representing purity. However, these days a lot of modern brides are throwing out the old tradition of the pure white wedding dress and have started to create their own trend.
For example, it takes a lot to step out and shock others and wear something different such as a bright red wedding dress or something such as that. Some traditionalists may find it off the mark, but for those who know you well enough, won’t be surprised at all and will support your quirkiness. If you are little on the more timid side, and not as daring to completely stray from the white dress, and you do not want to look like a bridal clone, just add a little color here and there. Pick out a nice ribbon to go around your waste that will add a touch of color or your crinoline under your dress colored and add a slit so that the color peeks out just a little bit, but not too much.
Destination Weddings
Just because you are getting married does not mean you have to follow the rules of getting married in a church or even in your own state or country. Why not have a destination wedding where you could get away with inviting your family and close friends. Perhaps you could consider getting married in Hawaii on one of its many islands such as Maui. How beautiful and romantic would that setting be? In addition, there are so many options to choose whether you want to marry in a nice quaint church in a tropical location or get married on a beach and have a luau reception.
In Hawaii there are many wedding packages to choose from to make sure your destination wedding turn out just the way you want it. Also, you will already be where you want to be for your honeymoon, therefore no long plane rides on the night of your wedding. On the downside, with a destination wedding you may run into some people being a bit upset because they either do not want to pay for the trip, cannot afford it or not understand that you want a small wedding. If you are concerned about hurting others, you could do a secret destination ceremony with just the two of you, then when you get back have a big party with all invited.
Whatever you choose, do not let anyone make you feel bad, second guess your decision or do anything out of obligation. All that matters is that you and your spouse are happy as this is your wedding day.
