Wedding Ideas- That Are Out Of The Norm

Are you getting married and wonder what wedding ideas are out there that you can do that is really different? With each passing year people are coming up with a variety of different wedding ideas. Some are a twist on the traditional and some are just plain out of the box. Here are 18 ideas that you can incorporate into your special day.

1. Create a Website. This website can include all the details leading up to your wedding that will allow you to keep your family and other guests updated as to what is going on. Keep an online blog, such as a diary, include photos, stories of your lives together, as well as important dates and appointments to those involved such as dress fittings, dress rehearsal and other important aspects.

2. Invites as Souvenirs. Go against the traditional invite by turning it into a souvenir that can either be treasured or one that can be used over and over again. If you are using the website idea, then maybe include a different code on each invitation, so when they log in to your wedding site and type in their code, they get a private video message straight from you with a personal touch.

3. Bridesmaids Dresses with Actual Use. As long as it isn’t off the beaten track of your wedding theme, allow your bridesmaids to choose their own dresses as this can be something creative or that can be worn after your wedding day has passed. Besides how awful are the dresses usually anyways?

4. An Evening Ceremony. Having your event at night allows you the opportunity to use lighting or candles in a way that can set the mood for a romantic setting.

5. An Intimate Ceremony. Having a very small and private ceremony somewhere secluded such as private beach cove or perhaps a small island can bring a sense of intimacy to you and your very few select guests.

6. Venue Envy. Find an activity that you both enjoy and play into it. If you like hiking, then maybe somewhere on the trail or at the base of a waterfall on the island of Maui would be to your liking.

7. Guest Book Audible. Instead of the traditional guest book, have a large matted photo of the two of you and allow everyone to sign around the photo on the mat part. Then have it framed for hanging later.

8. Dance in the Aisle. A new trend is to have your attendants dance their way down the aisle rather than the traditional walk. This can be either be choreographed or a free-will dance. In any event, it should be entertaining to your guests.

9. Forget Accessorize… Colorize! White might be the traditional color for a wedding dress, but it is not all about staying within the lines. Be unique and go color. Some see the world as black and white, but someone has to come along and color it.

10. Forever Young. Go for a sexier look and either wear a dress that is low cut in the front or wear a mini dress. Not only will you have the look, but it will also allow you to have much more fun at the reception.

11. Show Your Face. Opt for something different than the veil, such as a nice hat or head piece.

12. Theme Night. Decide on a theme and dress the part. In fact, you can take it beyond the wedding party and include everyone, such as your family and guests.

13. To Sing or To Recite? Instead of the traditional reading of your own vows, perhaps you can sing the vows to one another. Heck, break out in to a duet if the moment calls for it. You could also recite your vows in a poem form.

14. Make a Unique Entrance. Depending on the location of ceremony or reception, consider making a grand, and yet surprising entrance, such as from jet skis, parachuting in or something else to your liking.

15. Go Green. Save the environment and opt for ideas that are energy efficient. Anywhere from paperless invites to a candlelight ceremony.

16. Shake Things Up. Make a list of current traditions and alter them to make them unique to your liking.

17. Dear Diary. Have a journal book go around to your guests at the wedding and reception where they can write out some of their best memories with you.

18. Change the Décor. Save money on buying flowers, they don’t last long anyways, and go with balloons or other beautiful decorations.
