Ideas For A Wedding On A Budget That Save

Having a wedding on a budget doesn’t mean you have to give up quality; you just have to get a little creative. There are many things to consider, but three areas to concentrate on is your location, the food and the attire.

Location, Location, Location

If you play your cards right, you can save a lot of money on your ceremony and reception by selecting the right location.

Start by checking for free places or ones that require a small fee. This could include a beach, a park, a backyard, or a church if you, or someone you know, are members. Be sure to verify that locations such as a beach or a park are in need of a permit or not, because getting fined could cost you more than the permit itself.

In addition, consider having your wedding and your reception at the same location if possible as it will save time, travel and for the set up by any vendors, especially those who have requirements at both the ceremony and reception, such as florist.

Once again, if you plan accordingly, this could prove to be a huge money saver.

It’s all about the Food

Other than your wedding photographer, food and beverages can be quite costly unless you come up with a plan to keep costs down. Many people think the best way to keep it cheaper is to cut out the middle man and make the food themselves. However, what they don’t think about is how much work is involved from the prep to the cooking to the clean-up. Then they are exhausted and are not at their best during the ceremony and reception. Time is money so avoid doing it yourself.

One way to keep your pricing down is to keep your guest list short as many charge per person. If you do this, be aware of who you are leaving off the list as not to offend anyone, but at the same time, don’t invite a non-family member out of obligation. In addition, if you hire a caterer, see if they offer some sort of food bar such as an omelet bar, dessert bar or any other kind as this can often be offered at lower pricing.

As for your cake, try to keep it simple. There is nothing wrong with getting a cake somewhere such as Costco or Sam’s Club, because no one will know unless you tell them. Remember, it’s about saving money in your pocket. You could also go modern and forego an actual wedding cake and get a multitude of cupcakes and have them nicely tiered.

When it comes to your beverages, obviously the biggest cost is alcohol. So decide if you will have alcohol or not, and if you do have it, you can make it a cash bar so you are not stuck paying for it all.
