Wedding Traditions- Why is it that the groom shouldn’t see the bride before the wedding?
As a Maui Wedding photographer, it’s my job to capture the bride and groom separately before the wedding. The groom not seeing the bride before the wedding stems from a couple different theories. One is that many years ago marriages were arraigned and therefore the fear from the bride’s family was that the groom would see their daughter and find her unattractive, thus running away. The other thought to this tradition was that if the groom peeked at the bride in her dress before the wedding, it symbolized him peeking into his future, which would bring bad luck to the couple.
