Destination Wedding

When Valerie and Alexander decided to get married, they first envisioned a traditional wedding with friends and family. As time went on, the couple decided that an intimate wedding on the beach might be less stressful, so they decided to have a destination wedding in Maui. They live in the East Coast, so what better place would be spent for a warm tropical February other than the island of Maui. Traveling to Hawaii for a tropical outdoor beach wedding seemed like the perfect idea, so the couple contacted Fay at Aloha Maui Wedding who smoothly set up everything to include the licensing appointment, flowers, Minister, limousine and Photographer.

Robert Boscoe,  our minister, had waited in the parking lot with me and Faye, for the wedding couple to arrive in the limo. We headed down to the south end of Makena Surf which is located in Wailea to begin. At the end of the wedding ceremony, a tear beneath the eye’s of the bride, who was holding hands with her groom during the sensational kiss, had fallen onto her wondrous long wedding dress. What was adoration, was now true love!

After Robert and Fay left, it was time to begin the fun of Maui wedding photography. The two had walked down the beach, holding hands, while talking and enjoying the laughter of one another. Looking back at the Maui wedding photos from that special moment, I couldn’t help but smile because I could see how in love the two were.

It was a pleasure meeting Alexander and Valerie, and I hope they loved their Maui wedding photos as much as I did. It is such an honor to be trusted to capture the moments of a couples’ most important day together. Thank You Robert Boscoe for giving a light hearted, fun and romantic ceremony; Faye from Aloha Maui Weddings ; Jana Hoehn from Maui Floral Elegance for your beautiful arrangement of flowers; and Trevor Natividad, my assistant here at Behind The Lens Maui, for your hard work and determination.

Intimate Beach Weddings

It’s always such a remarkable pleasure working with Fay at Aloha Weddings photographing her intimate beach weddings. She always has the loveliest wedding couples for us to work with. We met in the parking lot of Poolenalena Beach park and waited for the couple to arrive with their family in the limo. The intimate beach wedding was just in attendance by the families and friends of the lovely couple. The ceremony, like many, was relaxing and yet emotional, that it never fails to hit the heart for me as I see the tears of joy streaming down everyone’s faces.

The wedding couple strolled through the beach after the ceremony and endlessly cherished each others souls in the arms of one another. I captured the breathtaking moments as the two effortlessly stood before the  sunset. I put my camera down and took a deep breath. I saw the amazing colors of soft pink and Sunkist orange beaming beautifully across the Brides’ light-tan skin and to the right of  her a honu(turtle). It’s shy little head peaked out of the water and I couldn’t help but think he was trying to say hi!

“How could there be any better place to celebrate the life of love than right here?” I thought to myself. There just simply isn’t.

I followed the couple as they continued down the beach and I captured their footprints that sat so elegantly next to each others in the sand. The time had flown by so fast and when it was time to go I knew that this very day was going to be a memory that would be forever held in a special place of not only theirs’, by my heart too. It was a pleasure being a part of their intimate Maui beach wedding. I literally have the best job ever!

Trash The Dress, Honeymoon

NicoleMaui PhotographerLeave a Comment

Maui is one of the top honeymoon destinations in the world and one way to enjoy your honeymoon is on a cruise ship which stops on several islands to include Maui.

Lauren Brophy and Donald Megargell  from King of Prussia, PA decided to take  a romantic cruise for their honeymoon and while on Maui take advantage of having their photos taken on the beach.  The couple decided they were willing to get wet but when we arrived the waves were up and so they decided to stay closer to shore for their ” Trash The Dress” photo session.

My assistant, “Trever” and I had a great time with this couple and are hoping to see them again on their next trip to Maui.

Congratulations Donald and Lauren!

There’s nothing better than being able to be witness to true “Love”.

I received a call from a very romantic guy who inquired about my capturing a surprise wedding proposal while he was in Maui with his girlfriend. After a numerous conversations and secret texts messages back and forth we successfully coordinated the perfect plan and ended up being so romantic.

It was so fun to be apart of the planning stages and being part of their moment together will always be close to my heart. I wish this couple much happiness on their journey through live together.

Honeymoon Portraits in Maui

I received a call from Yoko, the owner of Maui Dream Vacations about one of her couples that recently were married in Japan and we’re coming to Maui for their honeymoon and wanted to have a photo session at Kapalua Bay in their wedding attire.

Yoko informed me that she would be there to interpret the session for the couple and to make sure things went smoothly. When Yoko introduced my assistant, “Trevor” and I to Tetsuya and Kaori we both looked at each other and said, “Awe, I love them”. They were just adorable and you could just feel their kindness in the air.  As we got into the photo session I found Tetsuya  to be very bubbly and we learned he spoke a tiny bit of English so we were able to connect a bit more. Kaori was very shy and traditional and looked amazing. We all laughed allot and I feel like even though our direct communication was somewhat limited through spoken words, we made a deep connection and for me it was friends for life. I hope to travel to Japan soon to reconnect with my new friends.

Maui Family Reunion

NicoleUncategorizedLeave a Comment

When I have the opportunity to shoot a large family and or a family reunion, I jump at the chance to be a part of it if only for the hour.   I come from very small family of four and have always wanted to know what it might have been like to have had a big family. Family is so important and having memories captured especially while on vacation in Maui is a chance of a life time.

Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your family for the day and also to Sue Hudelson who helped at this family’s portrait session, you really captured some special moments.

A Beach Wedding For Two

NicoleMaui Photographer, Maui Photography, Maui Wedding Photography, Wedding photographyLeave a Comment

Couples all over the world travel to Maui, Hawaii to get married and to enjoy their honeymoon in paradise. This couple isn’t any different, they decided to have an intimate wedding for two in Hawaii without the stresses of a big wedding.  Intimate weddings in Maui, seem to be a new trend. Couples are opting for bit of romance, running away to get married on tropical island and then celebrating with a reception at home with their closest friends and  family.

There are many beach wedding locations to choose from in Maui and one of the most popular beaches in South Maui this year has been Paipu Beach. Paipu beach is a great location that offers a bit of seclusion due to the rocky trail to get there. This location offers a diverse set of backdrops, from the rustic Kiawe tree on the rocky walk over to the beach palm trees, greenery and black Lava rock. If you’re looking for a wonderful spot to get married on the beach in Maui, this location is defiantly one for consideration.

The intimate wedding ceremony concluded with couples photos around the beach and ended with an amazing sunset as well as the couple ended up getting a bit wet which made for some great photos.

Congratulations to you both and we wish you many years of happiness together.
